Mensaxeiro the Messenger Chicken

Well the other chickens tried to peck at me
so I hopped through the garden towards Campesino Dani
i climbed up his arm and on to his shoulder
am I’m still here! Though now I’m older.

It´s my favorite place to be
and I when lay an egg Dani guards it for me.
he puts into his armpit you see
and for 21 days he keeps it it warm for me.

Then one day I began to fly
and Dani gave me messages to carry into into the sky.
and back down again to family and friends
I’m Mensaxeiro the Messenger Chicken.

He writes them on paper with his green ink pen
he folds up the paper saying, “Fly chicken.”
“go to the steamboat and visit goat
and listen to him play this song I wrote.”

It was night and goat was alone
making the great pipe organ groan.
I found my way in and squakked a greeting
goat looked up and said “good evening.”

From the first day I began to fly

When I get back Dani holds out his arm
I land there perfectly, now back at the farm.
I perch on his shoulder like a pirat’s parrot
and Dani feeds me a tasty carrot.

We water plants, pretend to dance,
plant some seeds, pull some weeds
under his armpit Dani feels something scratching,
He pulls out the egg and we see it hatching.

It's a golden chick and it starts chirping.
